The Department’s 2010 Office of Schools conference Engaging learners through innovative practice will be held on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 July 2010 at the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach hotel. The conference will have a strong emphasis on student engagement, innovative practice and the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in student learning and professional learning. The Engaging learners through innovative practice conference will focus on the following key questions:
The conference will feature keynote addresses from academics and practitioners in the field who will explore these key questions. The conference will also feature a wide range of workshops across the K-12 continuum throughout the two days. The conference will feature a wireless environment to provide delegates with internet connectivity and a collaborative environment, allowing use of personal, school and DER laptops as well as mobile internet devices. Who should attend? Teachers, executive and leaders from primary, central and secondary schools, as well as staff from regions and state offices. Registrations will open 10 May, following further information to schools, regions and state offices. Delegates must register online through the conference website. At registration delegates will also have the opportunity to provide optional social networking details. Please note that this information will be made available to other delegates during and after the conference. The conference registration fee is $425 plus GST. Schools are invoiced and pay the GST inclusive fee of $467.50 per delegate. Regions and state offices pay by journal transfer and do not pay GST, however delegates from offices must provide their relevant SAP Code at registration. Please note that the conference registration fee does not include accommodation. Conference delegates will be able to book accommodation at the hotel for the nights of Tuesday 14 and/or Wednesday 15 July as part of the online registration process and should not book accommodation directly through the hotel as different rates will apply. General Information Early registration will be available in the hotel foyer from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Tuesday 13 July 2010. The main registration will be available in the upstairs (Level 2) lobby area of the hotel from 7:30 am to 8:45 am on Wednesday 14 July 2010. Each delegate will receive a lanyard, ID pouch and a conference satchel. Refreshments Refreshments will be provided on arrival (Wednesday) from 8:00 am to 8:45 am. Morning and afternoon teas & lunch will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday. Included in the registration fee is a welcome reception being held at the conclusion of Day 1 (Wednesday). Delegates will be provided with refreshments at this informal part of the program which will facilitate opportunities for further networking and reflection. |
